Alpha Phi Songfest

img_musicsheetWhen: Sunday, November 15, 3:00PM to 4:30PM

When: Alpha Phi Chapter House
906 S. Providence
Columbia, MO 65203 U

The purpose of this event is to teach current Phis the ‘old’ songs. We have been told that our younger sisters don’t sing that often, and we’re going to remedy that. We’ll do this by singing a song through ourselves, having our sisters sing with us a time or two and then we’ll record our efforts. We’ll repeat this for as many songs as we’re able in about an hour and a half. This will result in a wonderful recording that we’ll use during the Centennial Celebration.

So, please plan to help us with this event. It’s really going to be lots of fun. Word has it that the ladies would like to learn a couple of the naughtier songs. We may turn off the recorder and see if there’s something we may do to help them with this part of their education as well. If you have alumnae friends in or near Columbia please ask them to join us at the house. We’re contacting Omicron alums from all over the state but a personal invitation from a friend would be most effective.

Thanks to each of you…and as always…you DON’T need to be a major singer to join in. This is going to be fun and bring back LOTS of memories!

Please RSVP to tesserone@aol.com so we know how much cider and how many cookies to provide! You can also check out this event on Facebook under our “Omicron Centennial” group. Let me know if you have questions.

Sisterhood Weekend!

The women of Alpha Phi celebrated their annual sisterhood weekend in Kansas City this past Saturday. Friday night, the pledge class of 2009 played at Bonkers and enjoyed getting to know each other better. Then Saturday morning the whole chapter headed off to Kansas City for some sisterhood bonding, a tailgate provided by the Parent’s Club, and a baseball game at Kauffman Stadium for the Royals vs. Twins! Following the game, the girls got to hang out at the hotel and get air-brushed tattoos and caricatures. It was a great time!

GAMMA Jam

Logo

The women of Alpha Phi are currently participating in GAMMA (Greeks Advocating the Mature Management of Alcohol), which benefits the McCambridge Center of Columbia. The McCambridge Center offers both residential and day treatments for women and families battling addictions. The main competition of GAMMA, GAMMA Jam, is a dance competition that was held at the Missouri Theater. Our dancers paid a wonderful tribute to Michael Jackson and were selected to perform in the finals on Friday night (Sept. 18) at 6pm in Alpha Kappa Lambda’s parking lot.

Come out and support your sisters! It’s sure to be a “thriller!” Good luck girls!

Parent’s Weekend!

The women of Alpha Phi welcomed their parents this weekend for Mizzou’s family weekend. Coinciding with Alpha Phi’s dad’s weekend, the girls had plenty to do with both parents! Parents enjoyed a trip to Deja Vu, a delicious BBQ at the house, and a Mizzou win!

One Weekend, Two Events

The women of Alpha Phi are excited to welcome their dad’s and family for this year’s Dad’s Weekend, as well as Mizzou’s Family Weekend. Because two important events fell on the same weekend, we have outlined a schedule below that allows us to spend time with our dad’s and our families. Friday night’s events will begin with the APhi mom’s getting to know each other a little better at Bleu, while we spend some time with our dad’s at the comedy club. Plan for a weekend packed with sisterhood, BBQ, football and family fun!

The agenda is as follows:

Friday, Sept. 11:

7:15 p.m.: Mom’s meet at Bleu Restaurant (29 South 8th Street)

7:30 p.m.: Dad’s and Daughters meet at Deja Vu for comedy with Dan Chopin

Saturday, Sept. 12:

11:30 a.m.: Parent’s club meeting at Alpha Phi

12:00 p.m.: BBQ at Alpha Phi

6:00 p.m.: Mizzou vs. Bowling Green

Be sure to check back and share photos of you and your dad sporting some MU spirit!
